Equitheme UK Intermediate Winter Championships 2018

The juniors did us proud yet again at the Intermediate Winter Championships with a Team 3rd and individual placings. They are all either on new ponies, riding at the next level up or coming back from injury. This result shows how much determination they have and how much hard work they have put in.
The team was Jess Bishop, Ellie Mitchell, Evelyn Hopkins and Aliyah Shafiq.

The Intermediate Championships entailed a very early start for us as Jess’s time was just after 9 a.m. We duly got up at 4.30 a.m. to find the pony had rubbed all her plaits out and we had to start plaiting again!
It was a very cold, dark journey to Bury Farm where we met Debra Mitchell and Ellie who followed us down to the warm up area to start the job of pooh picking for the team!

Jess rode a lovely preliminary test to score 68.65% which put her in the lead for quite some time and she was eventually 6th in her arena.

Next to go was Ellie riding an elementary test which was brilliant and didn’t deserve to lose points when Dennis stuck out his tongue at the Judge. They were placed 7th in their arena on a score of 66.9%!!

The two Novice tests were later in the day. Evelyn and Bertie dashed to the dressage arena between two fabulous clear rounds of show jumping, which netted them a 7th place in that competition, and then pulled it out of the bag for a 6th place in their arena on a score of 65.9%. Aliyah and Emba then did a really lovely novice test to come 2nd in their arena on a score of 68.7%.

We had to wait for the very last score of the day to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the team competition as there was only 1 point between each, it was nail biting!! The girls won sashes and ... socks!

All teenagers and ponies were beautifully turned out and well behaved and had an enjoyable but cold and long old day.
